Preston Aikido Club was established by Mr Mucha, founder of the Lancashire Aikikai and Ian Cherry, the Senior Instructor, in 1985 as part of the Lancashire Aikikai.

At first the club met in the sports hall at Lancashire Polytechnic (now the University of Central Lancashire), but in the mid-90's it moved to its current venue at Strettle's Martial Arts Centre on Fylde Road. Preston Aikido Club is part of the Lancashire Aikikai, under the leadership of Mr Bob Spence (6th Dan).
